YouTuber MrBeast Calls Out Riot

After receiving his “second strike” from Riot Games for making remarks about the league “dying,” Doublelift informed fans during a Twitch broadcast yesterday that he would no longer be able to co-stream the upcoming weekend of LCS games.

Popular YouTuber MrBeast blasted the company’s choice after learning about this today.

MrBeast vs. Ninja Ultimate Crown, a League of Legends match between the two influential content creators, took place on July 9th on Twitch. Originally intended to join MrBeast and his team for the competition was Team Liquid LCS standout Bjergsen, but according to Doublelift’s statements on July 11, Riot and the LCS prohibited the franchise player from taking part.

Doublelift said; “Riot and LCS blocked Bjergsen from playing in this event, he was supposed to be on MrBeast’s team. Look guys, LCS is dying, the viewership is absolutely dying. Why would you not let one of, if not the face of the league play in an event with two of the biggest creators in the world?”

Riot revoked Doublelift’s co-streaming privileges until after the LCS games this coming weekend in response to the former League pro’s remarks made during his broadcast on July 11th. Jake Lucky’s tweet on the matter received a response from MrBeast, who criticized the large company for seeming to be opposed to an open discussion about its league.

MrBeast wrote; “This is a thing? Not letting people criticize the LCS is a phat L,”

Despite Bjergsen’s absence, MrBeast and Ninja’s League showmatch went down without a hitch and was seen as a fun event by fans. In fact, according to TwitchTracker, it managed to draw in more viewers than the LCS a week earlier. As of now, Riot has not released a formal statement regarding the matter.
