xQc Will Increase Twitch Donation Costs

Twitch streamer Felix Lengyel aka xQc has recently revealed that he is planning on increasing his Twitch donation costs due to the constant receiving of spammy text-to-speech messages.

Streamers commonly receive text-to-speech messages when someone donates on their stream. At times, the messages produce a good laugh and perhaps even a perfectly timed clip, however, there’s also some who were using the text-to-speech messages to spam inappropriate messages to the streamer just to annoy them.

Twitch streamer xQc has always been vocal about spammy text-to-speech messages in the past and because of this, it seems like he recently came up with a great solution to solve this problem.

During his most recent live broadcast, he discussed about this with his viewers as he stated that he will be planning on increasing the minimum donation costs on his channel. He went on to explained why he thinks it’s a good idea and how it will work moving forward. xQc has asked viewers to stop donating to him in the past and use that money to support other streamers who need it. Therefore, increasing the minimum donation cost is in line with that view and kills two birds with one stone.

Here’s what he said; “I think what I’m going to do is allow chat only to donate ten or fifteen bucks, and that’s it. If nobody uses text-to-speech because the price is so high, that’s a good thing. And if people don’t donate, that’s a good thing too.” The main motive behind his decision, though, is to stop spammy messages as xQc thinks it will make people think twice before spamming text-to-speech messages because it’s going to be expensive.
