xQc Defends Streamers Who Don’t Follow Trends

During a recent live broadcast, Twitch streamer Felix Lengyel aka xQc discussed the streamers and the metas on the platform as he defended the streamers who did not follow metas and trends on the platform.

Some streamers follow metas and trends on the platform for various reasons such as gaining more viewers. The best example for this was the Among Us hype where many streamers have jumped into the trend playing and collaborating with other streamers.

It gained traction around July 2020 and peaked in September 2020, averaging more than 200,000 viewers across 5,000 channels daily. It even got to the point where streamers teamed up with celebrities such as AOC and Jimmy Fallon. But then now, the hype has seemed to have died down as the game’s viewership has plummeted.

During a recent live broadcast of twitch streamer xQc, while he was reading an article about Ninja’s viewership dropping because he has not been streaming fortnite lately, xQc went on to say that he believes having the courage to stream what you want and when you want is what makes things great.

xQc defended the streamers who didn’t jump into the metas and trends on the platform and here’s what he stated; “That’s what the basis of streaming is. It’s what makes things great. If you have the courage to try something new and invest time into it, and you enjoy doing it… it doesn’t matter. It’s about sharing something with others.”

He also explained that people who do that are the ones who create the trends in the first place.

Regardless, it was only xQc’s opinion and many other streamers have no qualms about following trends, especially if it boosts viewership and creates enjoyable content for their fans. But it was an interesting matter to discuss and a good insight into why xQc likes to walk to his own beat in terms of the games that he wants to play.
