xQc Defends Penta

Twitch star Felix Lengyel aka xQc has defended the GTA Roleplayer Penta after Penta was accused of “digital blackface” during his recent live broadcast. Twitch streamer xQc is no stranger when it comes to controversy on the GTA RP NoPixel server. He has been banned multiple times on the server with his last ban becoming a permanent one. Some of his controversy that he got involved with is that when the GTa RP streamer Penta criticized him and described xQc’s community as “attack dogs”. Twitch streamer xQc came out in support of Penta.

During Penta’s June 10th live broadcast, the feud started between him and his fellow roleplayer Adamvision which ended up with Penta shooting him dead. Afterwards, adamvision proceeded to repeatedly tell Penta the “makeup” was “fading off”, referencing the traditional use of blackface. adamvision further shares on twitter their recent altercation where he doubled down on his criticism of Penta as he wrote: “Tonight’s stream got heated and I said things that will likely be torn apart for more drama. In summary; I think digital blackface is blackface. I think it’s inappropriate, harmful and distasteful. If you think otherwise, please don’t follow or support me.”

Now, during twitch streamer xQc’s recent live broadcast, he went on to share some of his thoughts regarding the issue coming out in support of Penta as he explained why he thinks roleplayers should be allowed to play characters of almost any identity. Here’s what xQc has stated; “You shouldn’t bottleneck what people can roleplay. There are some things that are a little more touchy, a little bit far out, but if you start gatekeeping what people can roleplay, then people will end up only being able to roleplay themselves. It’s not blackface. The character, the backstory, the skeleton of the whole roleplay, it’s a black character. End of story. You want to add more characteristics to pull off your result: No. You’re not going to achieve that goal.” xQc further explained why he believes Nickerson’s viewpoint could have undesirable long-term impacts. Regardless, Penta has reported the incident to the NoPixel admins but for now they still have no response on the situation.
