xQc Counter-Claims Against Olympic Committee

During xQc’s highly anticipated return to Twitch following his fourth ban in his entire streaming career, he revealed that he and his legal team are planning to contest the DMCA strike that resulted in his unwilling vacation from the platform.

xQc is no stranger to controversy. He was banned once again for the fourth time after he broadcast bits and pieces of the Tokyo Olympics on his channel and after he return from his suspension, he revealed that instead of accepting the DMCA strike and move on, he plans to fight back against the copyright claimant by counterclaim the DMCA and to dismiss the said strike.

Fresh off his ban, xQc recapped the situation that landed him in hot water and provided to his fans some additional context that his fans might have been aware of. He clarified that DMCA strikes normally don’t get a streamer banned and said that DMCA bans also normally lasts for 24 hours but his lasted for 2 days which is why it raised red flags for him.

xQc said that he looked into it and talked to his legal team about and if they can do anything about because for him, two days is obviously a crazy amount of time to be banned and said that after they reviewed all of his options, he decided to move forward with issuing a counterclaim against the party who issued the strike against his channel and said that it is pretty “ballsy”.

He also shared his rationale behind why he will fight the DMCa strike and said that it is a transformative content and that it is fair use and not what people claim it is. xQc also strongly believes that he is in the right and admitted that things could take a turn dependent on the response of the claimant and said that if it escalates, it will surely get crazy and warned his viewers that if he says “crazy” it will be “crazy, crazy”.

xQc understood the fight against his DMCA strike and he himself confirmed that it came from the Olympic Committee itself and that it wouldn’t be an easy one and that it will cost him millions of dollars but despite the situation, he reiterated his commitment to the cause of clearing himself.

Aso of now, it remains to be seen how his counterclaim will play out but if it does in fact moveforward, it could be a long time until a final resolution is reached.
