xQc Banned From Twitch

Popular variety streamer on twitch Felix Lengyel aka xQc has been banned from the platform again and the reason behind his ban was likely due to rebroadcasting several events from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

xQc received a live DMCA strike while he was streaming. According to the reports, he got DMCA strike for streaming broadcasted clips from the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Unlike his previous bans, this latest one was for a short period as he got only handed a 5-hour ban.

The Tokyo Olympics is the biggest sporting event going on right now that is broadcasted throughout the world which is heavily protected with strict DMCA regulations. In a tweet about the ban, xQc claimed that he thought he was taking the necessary precautions and didn’t expect to be banned.

He wrote in his tweet; “Really didn’t expect it but I could’ve easily avoided this. Sorry for everyone involved including the viewers. I’ll be better/smarter next time and follow guidelines more strictly.”

A website that tracks disciplinary action toward streamers, StreamerBans notes that this is xQc’s fourth ban on the platform since the site started tracking his activity in 2019. This is his first ban in 2021. Last year, he was banned three times, one of which was just for a day.

This time, however, Twitch didn’t make xQc sit on the sidelines for long. Only five hours after his original suspension, xQc’s fourth platform ban was lifted but xQc has yet to reveal why his suspension ended early.
