Will Cyr Be Banned?

On Twitch, OTK star ‘Cyr’ has been banned, although he hasn’t been suspended yet. For what it’s worth, the platform informed the broadcaster of his impending ban for broadcasting nudity and is juicing his last stream for three days.

Cyr will be banned from Twitch, according to the OTK star, but it won’t happen immediately. Prior to his January 14th stream, the Amazon-owned platform informed him that he would be banned for three days for showing nudity earlier in the week.

To begin his latest broadcast, he said, “I was told by Twitch today that I’m going to be having a three day ban incoming, starting today.”  

He then continued; “A couple of days ago, we were watching music videos. I think nudity showed up for a split-second. That’s that. It is what it is. I can’t even remember, honestly, what it was. I’m assuming someone went out of their way to report me because I did delete the VOD whenever it happened.”

Nudity and “sexually suggestive content” are prohibited per Twitch’s community guidelines.

Following Jeremy ‘Disguised Toast’ Wang’s own Twitch suspension in an attempt to prohibit streams rebroadcasting copyright video, some are skeptical of Cyr’s allegations. Cyr, on the other hand, is adamant that the ban is legal.

While the ban has thrown a wrench in Cyr’s content schedule, he’s managed to see the brighter side of the ban by rescheduling planned streams around it. He’s not irritated by the fact that he won’t be able to stream — he had plans — but he is irritated by the fact that he will lose access to his Twitch account. 

Cyr even joked that if his followers subscribe while his channel is up and running, he’ll get a hefty check when he returns. He did, however, close by admitting that he’s not sure how he’ll spend his three-day vacation. Here’s what he stated; “My stream is set to 18+ and I do go out of my way to ban somebody if they say they are under 18 if they are watching the stream. It is what it is, though. It’s just three days. I think I’ll go camping ⁠— I don’t know what I’m going to do for three days. It’s going to suck. I know three days isn’t that long, but when you actually want to stream, it sucks.”
