Will Adin Ross And Sommer Ray be Banned?

Twitch streamer Sommer Ray and Adin Ross might get banned from the platform after doing a hot tub stream in the wrong category as they stream under the just Chatting category and not on the newly release category for the hot tub streams, ‘pools, beaches & hot tub’. the hot tub meta has rise into popularity earlier this year with many female streamers doing this on their channel gaining themselves a huge viewers.

It has become controversial, which led twitch to take further action and released a new category just for the hot tub streamers and that is the ‘pools, beaches & hot tub’ category. This new category will make them separate the content from the general use ‘Just Chatting’ category. Back in May 2021, popular Instagram model and influencer Sommer Ray promised to do her own hot tub stream claiming that it would crash twitch if she did so.

Now, she fulfilled her promise as recently she did a hot tub stream together with one of the most popular streamers and the fastest-growing in 2021 so far, Adin ross. While the stream seems to have gone viral as it gained a massive 150,000 concurrent viewers, it could actually risk action from Twitch, and potentially even a suspension, as Adin Ross did not categorize it under the aforementioned ‘Beaches, Pools & Hot Tubs’ category. Putting a stream in the wrong category is something that users can report a channel for, and Twitch’s community guidelines state that “intentional channel miscategorization” is a violation of the policy.

Twitch’s policy when the new category was introduced states that “Creators that have chosen swimwear that is allowed under the “Swim and Beaches” contextual exception to our standard Nudity and Attire policy must stream into the Pools, Hot Tubs & Beaches category.” However, it’s a rule that is rarely enforced, and typically Twitch admins will simply move the stream into the correct category manually.

For now, twitch streamer Adin ross’ twitch channel hasn’t been banned from the platform from doing this.
