Twitch Viewer Lies About $600,000 Donation to CohhCarnage

Twitch streamer CohhCarnage has recently hosted two massive birthday charity streams. However, while he thought that he broke all his goals as he raised over $1 million for charity, it turns out that the $600,000 donation by a twitch viewer was faked.

Back on June 25th, Twitch veteran and popular streamer Cohh Carnage raised over $1 million for charity during his birthday charity stream, which was all donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. During the stream, fans donated more than $337,000, but for one massive donation, the donator couldn’t use the Tiltify system in place to donate and instead had to send his funds directly to St. Jude. After the stream concluded, Cohh announced that the person who donated had won the lottery and given around $600,000, bringing the final total to $926,886.14.

The donation was the single largest one in Twitch history to a streamer. However, it seems like there has been a problem with the massive donation as during twitch streamer CohhCarnage most recent live broadcast, he went on to reveal that the massive donation of $600,000 turned out to be a fake.

The person behind the fake donation claimed that he couldn’t make the donation through Tiltify, Cohh’s fundraising service of choice. So instead, he allegedly wired the money straight to St. Jude and provided bank documents that seemed to corroborate the transfer.

Cohh posted a twitlonger to address the situation and there, he apologized to his community for accepting such a large donation in the first place without being diligent in verifying it. He wrote; “Who is at fault here? The donator lied, sure. That’s a given. But I jumped the gun. I counted the money as there before it had been confirmed.”

Regardless, despite the fraudulent transaction, the streamer will uphold the goals achieved by the community, which include playing a dating simulator, Final Fantasy XIV, and a hot tub stream as he stated; “I will still be doing all donation incentives as if we had actually made that million. You guys really came through and did something special. It wasn’t your fault that this happened, it’s mine. And I’m definitely not going to screw you out of what you thought you were getting.”
