Valkyrae Turns Down Twitch Comeback

Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter has explained why she turned down a potential Twitch comeback in favor of staying on YouTube Gaming for another two years, with one major factor influencing her decision besides money.

The reigning Queen of the Google-owned site, Valkyrae, has agreed to stay on her red-branded YouTube throne for another two years. A Twitch offer caught her interest for a while; a return to the purple platform was “interesting,” but not enough in the end, according to Hofstetter. While there were other contributing variables, one stood out above the rest: Valkyrae and her YouTube fans are happy. She remarked, “YouTube’s fantastic, I couldn’t be happier.”

She also didn’t want to “disappoint” the fan base she’d built on Google’s website during the previous 48 months, according to the co-owner of 100 Thieves. Then there was the money — the financial component of Google’s power-play offer, Hofstetter confessed on the OfflineTV Podcast’s recent episode, played a big role in convincing her. Valkyrae has never been shy about “getting the bag” through her streaming business, and she has openly discussed how money incentives have influenced her career in the past.

The 30-year-old was confronted with the same question when she flung out two competing proposals before Google’s massive video site increased the ante. She said; “If I could, I would love to talk about the YouTube contract they offered me. But I don’t think I can. I can’t! I would absolutely love to share what they offered me, but it’s just not possible.”

Her argument was that her recent two-year contract renewal was worth a lot of money, which was backed by YouTube’s plans to promote her as a site icon. Up before her declaration on January 31st, there were rumors about where Valkyrae would end up, with the most popular one being that she would switch from red to blue and defect to Facebook. But, as she shows, that was never in the cards.
