Valkyrae Is Speechless

Over the weekend, Rachel “Valkyrae” Hofstetter was taken aback when she received a $200,000 anonymous donation to Sean “JackSepticEye” McLoughlin’s Thankmas charity drive, for which she was raising funds. The drive benefited New Story, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending homelessness around the world.

As the gift came in, Valkyrae reacted, “WHAT? What? What? no. What? Where? What happened? There is no way. Is that real? It’s anonymous? Why is it anonymous?. . . Anonymous donated $200,000! . . . How do you have $200,000 to donate? That’s crazy! What the heck?”

The donation came with the message: “Happy birthday, huge fan! Thanks for building homes, which means a lot to me. Also, you need to raise your goal!”

The streamer teared up as the weight of the donation set in, saying, “Is that real? That’s so nice!. . . Thank you! Every $10,000 is a home, so that is literally 20 homes. Wait, did I do that right?”

Later in the stream, Tilitfy’s Director of Community Experience confirmed that the donation was genuine. The gift came in the first 30-minutes of an 8-plus-hour stream. Valkyrae’s aim was $200,000, thus the gift put her over the top right away. She met her goal of $300,000 and raised a total of $306,701, coming in second only behind JackSepticeye, who collected $5.4 million for the charity.

The Thankmas charity effort aims to raise $10 million in order to provide housing for 1,000 families. The event took place on December 11th, and it raised a total of $7.4 million USD for New Story thanks to the efforts of more than 20 creators. According to the Thankmas Tiltify page, Septiceye additionally donated $150,000 USD of his own money. Other celebrities, including Pewdiepie, Lazarbeam, Alex Jenkins, and others, contributed significant funds to the initiative.

Over the last few years, JackSepticEye has created a name for himself as an internet philanthropist, earning millions of dollars for a variety of charities, including Save The Children, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, St. Judes, and many more. This year’s push with New Story to create new homes was one of his most ambitious yet.
