Twitch’s Ad Incentive Program

Twitch’s Ad Incentive Program

Twitch has been quietly rolling out new capabilities that allow producers to modify the ads that display on their channel in a variety of ways, including the ability to impose a delay at the start of a stream or manually space them out. For a small number of Twitch Partners and Affiliates, it appears that a new Ads Incentive Program (AIP) is being introduced to that list.

Twitch would offer creators a tailored flat reward for streaming a specified number of hours with ads, according to early information provided by streaming writer Zach Bussey. The payment will be made in the form of a customized offer, which will cost a different amount depending on the creator.

There will be a defined payout for each offer, as well as the conditions for ad run-time and total hours streamed.

These deals will increase in value as the number of hours streamed increases, implying that more money will be offered for longer ad slots. For $500, the lowest offer requires the streamer to stream 40 hours in the contract month and run two minutes of commercials every hour. In exchange for four minutes of advertising per hour and 40 hours of streaming per month, the highest offer doubles the incentive.

In other words, AIP will give streamers an alternative to depending on fluctuating ad revenue by giving them a target amount to aim for when they go live, allowing them to better predict a portion of their money. The streamer will be paid out in variable ad revenue for the month, just like previously, even if they don’t match the agreed-upon conditions when choosing their monthly offer.

AIP isn’t yet available to any creators, but a blog for the feature has been posted on Twitch’s backend, and additional information should be available soon.
