Twitch Viewership Enjoys Growth Of 27% In August

According to StreamElements analytics partner Rainmaker.gg, people watched 1.9 billion hours of video on Twitch in August, and overall viewership hours on the platform increased by 27% year over year last month in the monthly State of the Stream report.

While Twitch’s viewership has decreased since May, Facebook Gaming viewership has increased, reaching a new high of 567 million hours in August, up 64 percent from year to year.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was the most-watched game on Twitch for the month, with 142 million hours watched, up 2% from the previous month. Apex Legends grew by 103 percent to 86 million hours watched in August, while Minecraft grew by 46 percent to 72 million hours.

In addition, the number of hours watched on Final Fantasy 14 increased from 5 million to 20 million in July, thanks in part to popular streamer Asmongold playing the game in early July.

People spent nearly the same amount of time watching Final Fantasy 14 on streaming platforms as they did World of Warcraft in August, thanks to the MMO’s growing popularity.
