Twitch over YouTube

Tyler Blevins aka Ninja is the most popular streamer known today. He moved and signed on to Microsoft Mixer in 2019 to stream exclusively on their platform. When Microsoft shut down Mixer earlier this year, Ninja together with their biggest content creators made the decision as to where they would be streaming next. Ninja made headlines and the community was waiting to see where he would be streaming.

Ninja started streaming again on Twitch where he began streaming. Months later, he finally announced that he was returning to Twitch. He even signed an exclusive deal with the platform. During one of his recent live broadcasts together with his fellow streamer Lachlan, he shared some of the reasons as to why he chose to return to Twitch instead of streaming on the YouTube platform. He stated during the stream; “We were seriously considering it. It was a lifestyle thing at that point of what we wanted to do right, and also some other stuff that went into it. I just felt like Twitch is streaming right now. If I do amazing things for gaming and for streaming, mainly for gaming in this specific instance, I think it would have more of an impact if done on Twitch, or if done while on Twitch than it being on YouTube”.

He further explained and compared the two platforms; “When someone says you’re my favorite YouTuber, almost no one ever means your streams on YouTube. It’s always, ‘oh you’re my favorite YouTuber’ and they think of your YouTube videos”. Even though Ninja was using both of the platforms, he usually streams on Twitch and he uses his YouTube channel to upload all of his clips and videos.
