Twitch Bans Def Noodles

After “taste test” poppers on his September 27th stream, Twitch permanently banned YouTube drama reporter Def Noodles.

Twitch stated that rather than the customary suspension periods of 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days, his account is suspended indefinitely due to the “severe nature” of this community guidelines strike. Def Noodles did not deny using drugs on stream when he shared his ban email on Twitter. He responded, saying; “Poppers are not illegal in California, in fact, they are sold over the counter. And I live in WeHo!”

Along with “Mark” from LA Trash TV, Def Noodles had been streaming on his “DefNoodlesShow” channel. Mark inhaled many poppers, trying to discern each one’s unique flavor or aroma. Def Noodles released a clip from the video along with the email from Twitch stating the suspension was indefinite after it was announced.

The section on “self-destructive behavior” in Twitch’s community guidelines that clearly forbids:

  • Use of hard drugs
  • Misuse of legal substances and substances not fit for human consumption (e.g., prescription drugs, whippets, tide pods, bleach)
  • Dangerous consumption of alcohol or other substances that lead to being incapacitated

Drugs that are lawful in certain countries but illegal in others are not specifically mentioned. The fact that Def Noodles’ suspension is prolonged means he must win his appeal or risk never being able to stream on Twitch again.

He uses YouTube more frequently than Twitch, where he only has slightly more than 1000 followers, although Twitch is not his main venue for content creation.
