Transgender Community Gets Shoutout

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has recently collaborated with some of the biggest Twitch streamers, playing the popular game Among Us. Among Us is a multiplayer game which includes teamwork and betrayal while searching for who the real imposter is. AOC has joined Twitch streamers such as Pokimane, DisguisedToast, Jacksepticeye and others to encourage and inform their viewers how to vote. AOC used the streaming opportunity to promote voting while speaking to almost a half a million viewers about social justice issues. This said broadcast has been one of the biggest streams in the history of the Twitch platform reaching a 439,000 peak viewership.

A famed Twitch streamer Hbomberguy joined AOC’s three hour stream about halfway through the stream. Harris “Harry” Brewis, better known as Harris Bomberguy or Hbomberguy for short, is an English YouTuber, Twitch streamer, and political figure. He is also known for his videos criticizing alt-right and antifeminist rhetoric. According to UK based LGBTQ website, in 2019, Hbomberguy raised more than $448,000 for transgender rights.

When AOC was playing and Hbomberguy’s name appeared on the screen, she yelled into her mic, “TRANS RIGHTS”! This powerful shoutout of hers quickly became viral on Twitter giving delight from her words while playing the popular game Among Us, in front of almost a half a million viewers.
