After a huge 20-day battle, Twitch streamer TomPhantasy, he thrashed ahead of the previous Nacht Der Untoten round-count by over 40, breaking a long-standing Call of Duty Zombies record.

Although Treyarch is continually releasing new Zombies maps in Black Ops Cold War, some players still haven’t mastered previous favorites. Over the last several years, some of the most determined grinders have been breaking records on a variety of classic Zombies maps, and now another lengthy record has been shattered.

On July 2nd, popular Zombies streamer TomPhantasy began a new run in Black Ops 3’s Nacht Der Untoten. After completing 255 rounds, he eventually finished the session with a new world record, 20 days later.

After over 300 hours of very, very hard labor, the 255-round milestone was reason for celebration, with hundreds of fans cheering him on live.

TomPhantasy tweeted saying that he was in this game “for about 20 days”.

He was only dropped twice throughout the world-record-breaking session. After clearing the previous best of 216 rounds established by ‘Chihiro-516’ he set two new records, the first at round 220 and the second one at round 249, both which would have resulted in a new record.

He also said that after he secured his place atop the worldwide leaderboards. “The Zombies community has been supporting me for months as I have been pursuing this record through the highs and lows.”

TomPhantasy said that the game itself is a tremendous motivator for the long run: “I knew I had to keep going since the game freezes after 24.8 days”, he added.

If he had taken a day off, there is a good possibility that he wouldn’t have broken the record before Black Ops 3 crashed to the home screen.

“For the last year, I’ve merely tested what causes crashes and kept only the bare minimum of applications running to keep the game from shutting down. Another zombies player, xXSn1p3rC4TXx, who also owns a Black Ops 3 Record, was a huge help.

He remarked, “I’ve seen several extended games terminate in freezes or power outages.” His power “suddenly cut out” during a “100-hour” marathon, causing him grief. He also said that he was intrigued by Nacht Der Untoten because of its “totally distinctive” design among the dozens of other Zombies maps available.

He stated; “It’s the only map in Black Ops 3 without a ‘Pack A Punch’ machine or traps.” But it’s not the only one he wants to conquer. The streamer will next go on to Gorod Krovi, a 2016 Zombies map.

The current world record for Black Ops 3 arena is 228. According to TomPhantasy “there is an unexplained freeze” on Gorod Krovi that “can happen at any time”.

If he can get through this issue, another massive stream may be on the way for this Zombies gamer.

Meanwhile, those who have jumped into the latest Zombies releases have set new marks. Earlier this week, an incredible 675-round run was uploaded on the Cold War’s new Mauer Der Toten map.
