TommyInnit Apologizes

Minecraft YouTuber Thomas Simons AKA “TommyInnit” has recently apologized for his comments about fellow streamers Eryn and Clay “Dream.”

The 17-year-old British streamer apologized to the two Minecraft streamers last October 24th for making inappropriate jokes about them at the beginning of his Twitch stream saying that he wasn’t thinking about the responsibility of being alive.

The incident occurred during TommyInnit’s October 22nd Minecraft stream, when he asked Eryn if he “was familiar with the term slave” while introducing him as the newest member of Minecraft server Dream SMP and that because Eryn is black, this enraged people on Twitter.

Tommy has made this joke many times before, as it is part of a skit he performs on the Dream SMP in which he forces people to perform tedious tasks for him. However, he only said this to white people, further infuriating the Twitter community.

Eryn laughs and doesn’t seem offended when Tommy makes the joke in the video. This isn’t a surprise knowing that TommyInnit and Eryn have been friends since childhood and now play and stream Minecraft together. Eryn has remained silent about the situation since then. Another reason for Tommy’s ire is that he came close to calling Dream a “groomer” in the same stream.

Tommy pauses to type a message to Eryn, almost typing “is Dream a groomer?” in the clip. However, at the last moment, the word is replaced with “wrongen.” Fans of the Dream SMP are known to dislike jokes about sensitive subjects, and many took to Twitter to criticize Tommy.

In England, however, this joke is common and would not have elicited such a reaction. At the end of his stream, Tommy quickly apologized. However, a previous video of Tommy claiming that he didn’t mean his apologies in front of a lie detector test was still fresh in their minds, and this hasty apology was not enough to persuade the fans.

Tommy went into detail about the issue at the start of his October 24th stream, addressing his apology at the end of his previous stream as well as his comments on his fellow Minecraft streamers.
