Valkyrae Talks About The Stress of Leaving Twitch Viewers

Rachel Hofstetter aka Valkyrae has recently revealed that she was stressed about her switch from twitch to youtube. Back in January 2020, Valkyrae announced that she was leaving twitch to stream exclusively on the Youtube platform. Valkyrae posted a short announcement video informing viewers of the switch, thanking them for their support so far, and also expressed her excitement. Now, the 100 thieves’ twitter account has posted a clip where valkyrae reflects on her past year and the incredible success that she has now had. In the video, she reveals how stressed and unhappy she was during the switch to YouTube.

She dives into the emotions she felt when she left thousands of daily viewers for contract security as she stated; “When I decided to switch over to YouTube, I pretty much was sacrificing everything I had worked for, for stability.” She also claimed that she was worried about how her followers are going to think about her for switching over to a different platform. Valkyrae elaborates that during the switch, she loses a thousands of viewers in her stream and because of this, she was really concerned that she might disappoint her fans because of the move. She revealed that she wasn’t happy and that she was really struggling with the move.

She stated; “I was pretty stressed about it … I felt like I was letting a lot of people down, like my core community that used to watch me on Twitch. I felt like they just didn’t wanna watch me anymore because I left them or abandoned them.” But as the time went by, with the game Among Us blowing up in popularity, Valkyrae’s audienced bounced back in a major way. She was now an insanely popular female streamer who now open new doors such as making music, appearing in music videos and on talk shows, and she was especially proud of a new accomplishment as 45% of her viewers are now women.
