The Return of m0xyy

Twitch streamer m0xyy, a popular Twitch streamer has seen his Twitch channel grow to more than 500,000 viewers. He has risen to massive acclaim for his Overwatch live gaming streams. He began his Twitch channel with his first live stream in December 2016. On November 13th, m0xyy was reportedly permanently banned from the Twitch platform. The said reason for his permanent ban was said to be a DMCA strike which has been hitting thousands of streamers across the platform.

Some didn’t expect m0xyy’s ban to be permanent, with other Twitch streamers only getting temporary strikes. He tweeted out on twitter; “Holy shit, I’ve been DMCA’d twice in one week and I believe the next one will be a permanent ban. I’m going to be deleting all my clips and VOD’s, hopefully all will be done in the next couple of days. Save them if you want while you still can before it’s too late”. On November 14th, m0xyy was unbanned fromTwitch, only 24 hours after his reported permanent ban over DMCA strikes.

This is not the first time that this happened, On November 5th, League of Legends star Joedat ‘Voyboy’ Esfahani was banned ‘permanently’ over his account getting DMCA striked. The situation was cleared up days later and he was unbanned on November 9th. Twitch has vowed to implement “more sophisticated and user-friendly tools” to help take down infringing content. These have yet to be publicized.
