Tackling Sexist Toxicity In Valorant

In-Game toxicity in Valorant is a big problem. Some players have been calling out for Riot to take some action regarding the issue. It seems like the sexist toxicity in voice communication is still pervasive. Popular twitch streamer Imane anys aka Pokimane already complained about this issue on her twitter post back in 2020 when she wrote; “pls be nice to girls in voice comms”.

Fellow streamer Fiona M shared that she just wanted to be treated normally which pokimane responded to and said; “Exactly this”. There is a group of women explaining that they’ve experienced some sort of toxicity while playing Riot’s flagship FPS. Because of this, a member of the Insights and Strategy for Valorant Riot Aenesia responded to the complaints. She commented; “I have played so many games where women don’t speak up until after I start talking. Once they hear my voice, and they see that no one is giving me crap, they know it’s safe.”

Also, she went on to assure players that they are already working on the problem. She was unable to share details yet but there is a plan. Valorant’s executive producer Anna Donlon also spoke in the past about her desire to clamp down on this issue.
