Summit1g Thoughts Of Twitch Revenue Split Changes

Today, Summit1g joined the chorus of streamers lamenting the modifications Twitch plans to make to the way that it divides subscription income with streamers.

While talking to his viewers, the industry veteran, felt that the adjustment is a shortsighted play by Twitch. He said; “It seems to me like Twitch is trying to get that here-and-now money, and I’m worried about the longevity of Twitch. That they even have to worry about that is a little worrisome. I feel like they’re taking the here-and-now money and that long term is going to be affected if that’s the case.”

When considering alternative strategies for how Twitch can generate the money it appears to require, the topic of adverts immediately came up. Summit saw the platform’s current push to encourage broadcasters to run more advertisements to be problematic as well. Viewers routinely express their displeasure with Twitch’s growing amount of advertisements and how difficult it is to ignore them. Summit believes that as more people seek out entertainment elsewhere, Twitch’s financial performance may suffer in the future.

He said; “I hate the idea of ads too. I really wish that there was something else that they would push for to help the website rather than just ‘let’s get more ads.’ Because that’s also a here-and-now type of money. That’s not long-term cash because you’re going to be running people off your website.”

Summit didn’t appear to be as furious as other creators have been, even though he didn’t necessarily offer any solid suggestions for what Twitch could do.

Summit didn’t threaten to leave the platform or declare his intention to change his content strategy, in contrast to some other broadcasters.
