Streamlabs Addressed Claims

Streamlabs has replied to reports that the popular streaming platform had a “security flaw” that allowed anyone to take control of a creator’s YouTube or Twitch channels, stating that there was no security flaw and that users didn’t need to delete their accounts.

On February 1st, a content creator’s claim that the network could be hacked by anyone went viral, sending Twitch streamers and YouTube creators into a frenzy. Marvin Witt wrote in a tweet; “Streamlabs has a security vulnerability which lets people take over your linked YouTube [or] Twitch channel.”

Hackers were able to alter the information on users’ YouTube and Twitch accounts as a result of the flaw, according to reports. As per Streamlabs’ permissions, this included amending or permanently removing YouTube videos, as well as changing the details of Twitch streams.

Streamlabs, on the other hand, has assured users that there is no security problem and that creators’ YouTube and Twitch channels are safe from hackers.

The platform said in its announcement; “the issue was reported by YouTubers who use Streamlabs as well as YouTubers without any linked accounts, meaning creators who have never used our service have experienced this issue.”

There are no security risks with Twitch integration, according to Streamlabs.

There’s no need to rush to un-link your Twitch and YouTube accounts from Streamlabs if you’re a big or small content creator who relies on the platform for donations and other resources.

They said, “We have no reason to believe there is an issue with our service for any creator.”
