Streamer Sideneuke Under Investigation

A Twitch streamer is said to have run over a dog in Poland while using her phone; authorities are looking into the incident, and the prosecution has been informed.

In February, Twitch broadcaster “sidneuke” came under fire from the internet for what she looked to have done: ran over a dog in the road. Only when the streamer started reading Twitch chat and glanced at her phone did the incident happen. She appeared to hit a dog with her eyes off the road, and there may have been additional animals nearby at the same time. 

Sidneuke was banned from Twitch, probably for driving while distracted, but there might be much more severe repercussions down the road. The Lower Silesian Inspectorate for Animal Protection has reportedly been informed of the event and has informed the prosecutor’s office, according to Polish media. 

They said in a statement; “We decided to notify the prosecutor’s office in this case. The first issue that is beyond doubt is that dogs should not run free. However, since they were already running, then: [she] should [have] stopped and reacted. It’s empathy and social duty.”

It should be mentioned that using a cell phone while driving is illegal in Poland, and the reported accident just makes the problem worse. After the event, sidneuke closed down her social media accounts and hasn’t spoken out about her behavior or her Twitch suspension. Still unknown are the length of her suspension and whether the Amazon-owned website is cooperating with Polish authorities.
