Streamer Seum Evicted From Home

Twitch streamer Seum and her family were forcibly removed from their home while she was playing Dreamlight Valley, illustrating how life may often take streamers by surprise.

On her Twitch account, where she typically broadcasts games like Dreamlight Valley or makes use of the Just Chatting category, Seum, or just Sam, has managed to reach over 80 thousand followers. While streaming, a lot of unforeseen events might occur, like a watermelon exploding or a group of friends becoming caught in the crossfire of bullets. Even when broadcasting live, one streamer was seen out on the town with her partner.

Since streamers have no control over what might occur while they are broadcasting, some have found themselves in precarious situations, such as having the authorities search their home or, as in Seum’s case, being evicted. Seum unexpectedly switched off her broadcast while she was playing Dreamlight Valley and stated that she had to leave without providing a reason.

Many of her fans noted that she appeared upset and began to concern about her well-being and inquire as to how she was doing. Soon after, Seum revealed on Twitter that she and her family had been forced out of their house in a post-explanation. Seum asked her followers for assistance in a series of tweets by expressing her feelings of being “embarrassed and lost,” as well as the fact that her family has “nowhere to go.”

She included a link to a GoFundMe page in which she detailed how she had taken over as the family’s only breadwinner when her husband lost his job in 2020. Her earnings from Twitch, however, have fluctuated and been “not very fruitful,” as many streamers have said since the corporation rejected the 70/30 sub split.

Seum added that her family had been receiving assistance from Rental Assistance to pay the rent they owed for 2021, but the organization had run out of money and had left her family “without options.” The sheriffs eventually showed up at their door and evicted them after the streamer received an eviction notice that no one in her family saw. Since then, Seum has raised about $40,000 (£36,000) in donations to cover her rent, but she said that even if she paid off the bill, the leasing office would not allow her to re-enter the property.

She had to fulfill contracts to work at the convention as well as attend TwitchCon since her airfare had been paid for. Seum said she was delighted by the love and support she received after meeting fans and other creators at the event and thanked everyone who had assisted her.

She tweeted; “Thank you for enveloping me in love and empathy and not letting me feel bad for being sad during this con.”

Hopefully Seum and her family will be able to find a new place to reside and return to their regular life.
