Streamer Mathil’s Take On xQc

Popular Path of Exile streamer Mathil was not pleased with xQc’s recent, contentious move to accept sponsorships from the gambling industry.

Mathil targeted xQc, who changed his mind about gambling sponsors in May despite being one of the most popular broadcasters on the site and having acknowledged a gambling problem. As a result of the negative feedback xQc received from both streamers and fans, that choice turned out to be a terrible one. Some even demanded that Twitch ban all sponsored gambling content, like YouTube streamer Ludwig. While talking about how some wealthy celebrities seem to be unable to be pleased with the money they already have, Mathil didn’t hold back in his criticism of the French-Canadian star, even if much of the animosity at xQc has subsided for gambling and increased to his streamer tier list.

Mathil said; “The classic example right now in our streamer sphere is still xQc, basically the richest fucking streamer on the platform. Been gifted the opportunity—just tripped over the fucking opportunity to make tens of millions a year. And then [he] still would happily sell his entire viewer base down the fucking river for a little bit more. Because you know, you need a lot of money to sit in a room 20 hours a day playing games.”

Although popular streamer Mizkif, who previously disclosed that he denied a $10 million gambling sponsorship, claimed that xQc’s sponsors likely pay him “disgustingly more” than Mizkif would receive, it is unknown how much money xQc makes from his gambling sponsorships.

Hasan, another prominent Twitch streamer, alleged that xQc and all other streamers who have referral codes with gambling sponsors profit when their viewers lose money using their codes.

While some individuals find the “gambling meta” to be unpopular, xQc has insisted that he will still accept gambling sponsors if he so chooses. Furthermore, despite the criticism, more streamers might take advantage of these lucrative chances because Twitch seems unwilling to take any action.
