Soulja Boy Lawsuit

Soulja Boy, a commercially successful rapper, was banned from Twitch twice in a single day last week, for unknown reasons. The rapper, who is well known for his 2007 No. 1 chart-topping hit Crank That, threatened to sue Twitch if he didn’t get his account back in a new set of Tweets sent on Wednesday.

On Twitter, Soulja Boy wrote, “I can’t believe Twitch can just ban you without any proof or explanation. This doesn’t feel right, I gotta sue these people. . . If y’all don’t give me my account back, I’m taking y’all to court @Twitch @TwitchSupport” Then, after few minutes after his initial tweets on the matter, the rapper continued saying: “I need the best lawyer money can buy, DM me I got millions I wanna sue twitch, I feel like they are racist. They ban me without no explanation. I will not stand for this.”

He then used the hashtags #boycotttwitch and #Twitchisracist to question “who is the CEO of Twitch and where can I find this n***** at?”

When Soulja Boy streams, he plays games and engages in the just chatting category, allowing him to connect with followers through the live stream platform.

He’s a controversial figure, having been accused of sexual assault by a former assistant earlier this year and serving time in prison for violating probation after being charged with weapon possession in 2019. He rejected all allegations of sexual assault, and it’s unclear if they had any bearing on his suspension. Twitch has not provided an explanation for the rapper’s suspension, according to him.

If Soulja Boy goes ahead with his case, he’ll be joining the likes of Dr. Disrespect, who announced his intention to sue the platform in June 2020 after his own high-profile, unexplained ban.
