Shroud Explains His Sentinels Signing

The community was on its feet when Sentinels revealed on July 8 that they had signed Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek to their active Valorant division.

Sentinels were left searching for a new fifth after Hunter “SicK” Mims withdrew from the North American Last Chance Qualifier, which gave them the opportunity to approach the 28-year-old Canadian to fill the position.

On his stream, Shroud discussed how everyone assumed the announcement was a joke and not at all serious. After finishing supper, the former Cloud9 Counter-Strike player received a call from Sentinels telling him that he had been selected as their fifth player for the Last Chance Qualifier. At first, Sentinels wondered if Shroud had been playing a joke, but it was eventually discovered that the Twitch sensation had committed to the contract. “They (Sentinels) all thought I was trolling, but I was not trolling.” said Shroud on his stream.

With this transfer, Shroud returns to the competitive scene for the first time in more than five years. He was last seen playing for Cloud9’s CS:GO team in the Americas Minor of the IEM: Katowice 2019 Major, though.

It is still unknown if Shroud will remain with Sentinels permanently or if this arrangement will only last until SicK rejoins the active roster. Following the news, XSET, believing it to be a troll attempt, made a false tweet about Jake “Stewie2K” Yip joining their Valorant roster; however, the company later removed the tweet.
