Is Ryujehong Ban Due To DMCA?

Ryu Je-hong, better known by his online alias ryujehong, is a South Korean professional Overwatch and a former player for the Vancouver Titans of the Overwatch League. Ryu is renowned for his high mechanical ability and high impact in-game performances. Recently, ryujehong was banned from the streaming platform Twitch. It was said to be his first ever ban from the platform and many of his fans and viewers suspect that it was due to the DMCA takedown issue, while many are still curious as to what truly happened.

His fellow Overwatch League player Seonchang Lee aka ANS recently tweeted out that he was going to be streaming on a different platform because of the ban of DMCA. He stated on his Twitter; “Sorry fans. DMCA problems. We’re moving the platform”.

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act or DMCA allows Twitch to host user-generated content and promises that the platform can’t be sued if it removes copyright-infringed materials after receiving a notice of said infringement from a copyright holder.

Some of the streamers have been blaming the Twitch platform for how they have been dealing with this ongoing issue, that instead of letting the Twitch streamers file counterclaims, Twitch is simply deleting their content without even a warning. Some of them are getting their content removed or facing bans, with some of them facing potentially a permanent ban.
