Pokimane Reacts To Cardi B’s Dress

The Met Gala 2022 was held this week, and a slew of celebrities walked the red carpet in breathtaking gowns — however Twitch star Pokimane wasn’t a fan of rapper Cardi B’s outfit.

The Met Gala is an annual fundraising event held in New York City to benefit the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Gala is regarded as one of the most significant fashion events in the world. Attendees are asked to dress in a certain theme for the evening; prior themes have included ‘Camp’ and ‘Heavenly Bodies.’ The Met Gala’s theme this year was ‘Gilded Glamour,’ evoking the extravagance and excess of the Gilded Age (think ‘The Great Gatsby’).

However, many fashion lovers were dissatisfied when celebrities’ costumes didn’t seem to fit the theme – a sentiment shared by Twitch streamer Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys. When she came across rapper Cardi B’s look of the night, the broadcasting star was going over this year’s Met Gala gowns with her audience of over 8 million fans. Cardi was dressed in a form-fitting gown with gold chains, beads, and decorative pieces, as well as matching nails. The outfit worn by the Bodak Yellow rapper was certainly eye-catching, but Pokimane wasn’t a fan.

Poki began, “Cardi B — no BM (bruh moment), I like Cardi. I think she’s hilarious. But she looks like a pocket full of change to me. Like she’s beautiful as a person, as a face, as a body, as an everything… but this dress, I don’t know why it’s giving tin can a little bit. Yeah, I just think of like, quarters.”

Pokimane couldn’t help but giggle at her own analogy before offering her thoughts on the evening’s other looks, which included her proposing a drinking game in which guests take a shot “every time someone wears a black suit.” 

“I think it followed the bell curve: A lot of mid-satisfactory bad ones, and a handful of really, really good ones,” she said of the event.
