Pokimane Donates $50,000 To UCI’s Esports Program, Scholarships

Imane “Pokimane” Anys has donated $50,000 to University of California’s Esports or UCI program. Pokimane’s scholarship will sponsor four scholars. The money will create an endowment that will fund tuition and fees for gamers selected by UCI Esports. She said she wants to give back to the community that has given her so much. She loves being able to share her experience of how she got to where she is today and she hopes that it will help others who are on their way. Imane was happy to be supporting the UCI Esports program because their students are focusing on gaming in addition to pursuing their college degrees.

UCI’s Esports teams compete in many League of Legends tournaments, even being crowned national champions in 2018. The UCI Esports Arena is also an important factor in the success within their Esports program. Students who major in Esports and gaming have backgrounds in computer science and media with one goal in mind: to be successful in this quickly expanding industry.
