Pokimane Cuts Ties With Streamlabs

Twitch streamer Pokimane claimed she’s had Streamlabs remove images of her from their website—some of which she claims were used without her permission—just days after she slammed the company for allegedly stealing work from competitors.

Streamlabs introduced a new Xbox streaming service on November 16 that lets streamers from across the world add overlays and other objects to their streams. Lightstream, who already offers a similar service, called them out on Twitter shortly after their introduction, accusing them of plagiarizing their website. Pokimane, who is linked with Streamlabs, said on Twitter that if the company didn’t resolve the concerns, she would ask for her face to be removed from the platform.

On November 19, the Twitch streamer posted her Twitter account with an update on the incident, claiming that the company had utilized some of her photographs without her consent. While Streamlabs did send a statement on Twitter indicating that they would address some of the issues, the internet mocked them for their copy and paste apology style.

As a result, Pokimane is working to separate herself from the corporation. She said on Twitter that she had requested that Streamlabs remove her image from the website, and that they had “removed 10+ images of me, some of which I never gave them permission to use,” according to her.

Pokimane also observed that only two allegations had appeared when she first tweeted about the matter, but that there have been several difficulties with the company mentioned online since then. She is, however, investigating the latest allegations and will be switching donation services. Due to her alert systems and donation cap, which she implemented earlier this year, the streamer stated that it will take some time to split from the company. The creator also made a point of emphasizing the fact that she will be transferring platforms.

“I do not condone their business tactics and will not stand by them,” Pokimane continued.

After Lightstream accused the company of plagiarizing their work, the creators of OBS Studio said on Twitter that Streamlabs approached them about using the OBS name, but they were told not to. Despite this, Streamlabs allegedly continued to utilize the term, supposedly filing a trademark to project themselves. Several well-known streamers have spoken out against the situation since then.

The corporation indicated in its apology that “OBS” will be removed from their name. We’ll have to wait and see how the rebranding turns out.
