Richard Tyler “Ninja” Blevins Jr. Leaving Twitch To Stream On Mixer

Ninja began his streaming career eight years ago as a “Halo” player before turning into a cultural phenomenon best known for playing “Fortnite.” He has more than 14 million followers on Twitch, the top video-game-streaming platform, owned by Amazon.

Ninja is most known for his Fortnite and H1Z1 content. Ninja rose to fame in 2017 and 2018 and has since dominated the platform in terms of subscribers and followers.

Blevins is one of Twitch’s most popular streamers and one of the biggest names in Fortnite. He has announced that he will be leaving Twitch and will be streaming on Mixer exclusively. The news came via a tweet from the streaming star, with him dubbing the move “the next chapter.” This will be a big blow to Twitch, where Ninja was one of the most popular streamers with 14.6 million followers. His absence from Twitch will likely be immediately felt across the board. As a result his following shrank. He now has 3 million subscribers and 63 million views.

Ninja Battles featuring Fortnite is the first produced series from Ninja for Mixer since he joined the platform. The show is a collaboration between Ninja and his management team Loaded, to create additional entertainment opportunities for his community. Ninja said in a statement that this fulfills his goal when he joined Mixer to push boundaries with new kinds of streaming content and interaction.

The show marks the debut live event series hosted on Ninja’s Mixer channel and will feature 60 of the world’s best Fortnite players and gaming personalities competing to win a $400,000 prize pool. It’s an example of esports-related celebrity streams that can still be staged during the pandemic in an online-only form.
