Myth Shows Off His Freedom

Myth Shows Off His Freedom

Myth made his streaming YouTube debut today, and he opted to take advantage of the platform’s relatively lax rules for what streamers can and cannot say in addition to utilizing the occasion to explain his departure from Twitch.

When asked to use the term “simp” on his channel, the former Fortnite pro responded in the funniest manner imaginable. He rubbed his hands together and exclaimed, “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, theys and thems, and all inbetween.  Simp.”

Myth then got up from his chair and looked around his room to add to the appearance that he was worried about who might have heard what he had just said. He said; “Are we still live. Are we still here? I think we are. I think we’re good.”

Simp is a slang term that is frequently used online. It usually refers to guys who are extremely protective or attentive to women, especially in an effort to earn their love. The term’s sexual connotations caused Twitch to judge it unacceptable, even though it has gradually developed and is now frequently used to describe any person’s defensive behaviors toward another person. According to the terms of a policy that prohibited users from criticizing others based on their sexual activity, or lack thereof, Twitch announced in December 2020 that “simp,” along with other words like “virgin” and “incel,” may not be used on the network as insults.

For the avoidance of doubt, Myth’s use of the word “simp” on Twitch would not have gotten him into trouble because he wasn’t referring to a specific person. The word was not actually “banned.” Only when it was used as an insult was it deemed unacceptable.

As more well-known streamers switch to YouTube partnerships, the underlying tension around Twitch’s somewhat stringent restrictions about what you can and cannot say is still a subject worth monitoring.
