Mendo is Banned For Cheating

Lucas ‘Mendo’ Hkansson, an Apex Legends streamer and former pro, has been banned from the battle royale game, with one of his accounts being penalised for “cheating.”

Mendo was widely considered as one of the top players in Apex Legends when it was still in its infancy, often winning tournaments and putting on a show. He is still a very skilled player, regularly capable of making high-ranked players appear like your ordinary Joe, despite not competing much since early 2020.

With cheating rampant in rival battle royale Warzone, Respawn and EA are clearly keeping a close eye on the situation, and Mendo has been caught in the crossfire.

Mendo, evidently perplexed by the scenario, shared a screenshot of an email he received from EA on September 21st. The email reads; “We noticed that your EA account broke EA’s gameplay rules. Because your account was cheating, we’ve permanently blocked your access to Apex Legends’ online features.”

After this, Mendo took to twitter to address the situation and wrote; “One of my @PlayApex accounts got banned for cheating! Awesome! I’m so glad they’re keeping the servers safe.”

It’s unclear what led to EA’s decision to ban Mendo for cheating. Of course, it’s possible he was cheating, but many people appear to think that’s not the case. Fortunately, as Mendo points out, this is only on “one of” his accounts, so he may still play and stream the game whenever he wants. As a result, he’ll be trying to avoid a ban on his main account.
