Maya Raises Over $500,000

Twitch streamer Maya held a charity stream recently raising over $500,000 for her nonprofit organization and exotic animal sanctuary Alveus. In the past, Maya has said that conservation and helping spread environmental awareness is her ultimate end goal. So she’s been working to help set up a non-profit foundation, which has now become a reality.

With the funds raised by the stream, it will be able to open a physical sanctuary in Texas and create online conservation programs, together with hosting content creators that help spread the message. During the charity stream, viewers donated towards the fund as well as bidding on items from some of the most popular streamers on the platform with all proceeds going to Alveus. Some items were just simple things such as a framed picture that went for $6,000 and a sheet of bubble wrap that went for $4,800.

However, one of the most expensive items was T-Pain’s Gucci loafers which went for over $12,000. xQc’s Luminosity Gaming jersey sold for $12,500. Additionally on the stream, the most expensive purchase of the night went to streamer Ludwig, who spent $53,000 to spend an hour with popular gaming streamer Michael Grzesiek aka shroud. A close second was a golden shovel signed by Sodapoppin that went for a whopping $31,000. As before the stream, Maya said that she would shave her head if she reached $500,000 and right after that goal was smashed, Higa stayed true to her word and buzzed off her locks for the cause.
