Twitch Streamer Ludwig Banning Viewers

Twitch streamer Ludwig Aghren recently announced that he decided to ensure that people aren’t being reckless with their money as he set a limit of one hundred subs, about $500, per person on his stream and if they donate a gifted subs of more than 100, they will get banned on his subathon stream. Ludwig’s subathon stream will continue for as long as his viewers can make it, by subscribing and gifting ‘bits’.

And now it turns out that his subathon stream has been successful as Ludwig has become the most subbed twitch streamer. However, Ludwig has also some concerns about how sustainable it all is, so he decided to introduce a cap of 100 gifted subs per viewer. He also capped the number of bits a single viewer can donate. During the stream, he explained some of his concerns with this as he stated; “Since I can’t know where that money is coming from, whether it’s mom’s bank account or just some booming business that some dude has, it doesn’t feel appropriate sometimes. 100 gifted is still a lot of gifted. That’s 500 bucks! We have 60,000 people, if 1%, 600 people, gift 100 subs, uh oh, that is 60,000 subs. That’s everything we did in the past week. I’ll be here for another seven days.”

Ludwig further explained that he was uncomfortable with such large donations as he had no way of knowing where the money came from, and that made Ludwig nervous. But then it seems like some fans were still eager to spend a lot of money on Ludwig’s stream. It did not take long for some of them to find a way around the restrictions as they include using multiple accounts or simply splitting the donations into separate transactions. Ludwig’s moderators then began banning viewers that circumvented the rules. The ban was not permanent but banned viewers are not able to watch the rest of the subathon.
