Ludwig Atones For Controversial Botez Decision

Following the Mogul Chessboxing Championship, controversy erupted over Andrea Botez’s final boxing round performance against Dina Belenkaya. Today, the event’s administrators addressed the issue and acknowledged their error.

Botez came out swinging for the fences in the final round of her boxing match, knowing that she needed a knockout to win. In the chess section of the competition, Belenkaya had played well, and Botez was just a few moves away from an almost certain checkmate. They had to box again, though.

Belenkaya, who was frequently knocked to the ground, was trying everything in her ability to stall and evade Botez, but the younger Botez sister still managed to regularly knock the Woman Grandmaster to the ground. During the fight, it seemed like Botez’s valiant efforts were not nearly sufficient to overcome Belenkaya in the given 90 seconds of boxing time. Belenkaya proclaimed victory as the two returned to the chessboard. Although Botez had knocked Belenkaya to the ground three times, the boxing referee failed to declare what should have been a clear TKO in Botez’s advantage. Ludwig and Mogul Moves recognized this in a message to social media today.

Even though Belenkaya won the belt last night, Ludwig and his crew were concerned about the unsatisfying outcome. Despite the fact that they did not overturn the result, they are awarding Botez a well-earned title belt because she put up one of the night’s best boxing performances, one that ought to have resulted in a victory.

Ludwig stated; “After talking to the officials we thought this was the best path forward. Impossible to rewind the clock but always best to do right when possible.”

Botez responded to the news on Twitter immediately after hearing it. She wrote “double win let’s go” in all caps on her post with enthusiasm.
