Kyootbot Banned

Kyootbot Banned

Twitch bans on content creators are nothing new, and by this point, everyone is used to hearing about someone getting kicked from the site either temporarily or permanently almost every day.

Although these penalties are occasionally criticized as being excessive or, conversely, not severe enough, most of the time a person’s ban is justified when examined in the context of a Twitch terms of service breach.

One recent incident involved GreekGodx, a pretty well-known Twitch streamer, who was banned for allegedly momentarily twerking on camera. Others thought his temporary banishment from the platform was a result of a recent tirade in which he said any lady he dated would have to forgo streaming and employment and spend the most of her time in the kitchen. Naturally, a lot of people thought his position was inappropriate and sexist, yet on July 1st, he was permitted to return to the podium.

Currently, Kyootbot, another well-known Twitch streamer, has also been placed on a temporary ban. This is the content creator’s first actual ban; she has previously been suspended, but that was due to a Twitch error.  According to one viewer, the 24-hour restriction was necessary since “her chat was wildin” and unmoderated. Fans will have to believe Kyootbot when she claims that she was banned for “just attire sh*t” during a following YouTube stream. In an effort to be more open about bans, Twitch started alerting users why a channel is inaccessible in January, but that still only offers a general rather than a detailed explanation.

Kyootbot was probably banned because of her clothing, in all likelihood. A large part of the streamer’s rapid rise on Twitch in 2021 was due to her fairly original content.

She regularly invites random viewers into a Discord chat where they have seven minutes to try to win her over while only wearing a bra, panties, or other lingerie-style clothes. As a result of the chance to “speed date,” Kyootbot’s channel grew from having 68,000 followers in July 2021 to having 360,000 at the time of the most recent ban.

The Amazon-owned streaming service does call out producers for wearing inappropriate clothing, despite the perception among some viewers that incredibly successful streamers like Amouranth don’t face punishments commensurate with their TOS-breaking behavior. In May, Corinna Kopf was given a temporary ban for her outfit, and a few days later, TheDanDangler was given the same penalty for swimming in a bikini.

For other streamers, Twitch’s rules are confusing because they permit Kyootbot to regularly wear sexy clothing while banning her for wearing something that, to many, doesn’t seem all that different from what she usually wears.
