Kyle Bosman Has 12 Hour Charity Stream

Twitch Streamer Kyle Bosman recently started a 12-hour ”Terisathon” to raise money for girls Who Code. It’s now over and the charity received a total of $14,266.24in donations, exceeding its $10,000 initial goal.

Bosman accumulated 894 Tetrises (the name for clearing four lines at once)over the course of 12 hours, all while playing through several differentiations of the game. Kyle Bosman began the said fundraiser by playing Tetris 99 and ended it with the original from 1988. 13,322 people tuned in to watch the Tetris action, which resulted in a significant donation to the said charity.

Girl Who Code is a charity that aims to increase the number of women working in technology after a significant drop in recent years. The organization accomplishes this by teaching young girls in these fields through school visits and summer camps. This will also provide girls with the skills required for entry-level work in the field, as well as contacts to call upon once they have graduated from high school.

This isn’t the first time the gaming industry has put on a successful charity event in recent months. In June, itch.io’s “Indie Bundle For Palestine Aid” raised an incredible $899,778 much above its original goal of $500,000. The said bundle includes 1000 games that can be purchased for as little as $5 resulting in the fundraiser to go viral quickly.
