Kpop Star Jae Deletes Twitch Channel

Day6’s K-Pop star Jae Park shut down his twitch channel after he made inappropriate comments and jokes about ‘sugar daddy’. Park Jae-hyung aka Jae is a Korean-American musician, singer, songwriter, and composer, best known as a vocalist and electric guitarist of South Korean rock band Day6. During one of Jae’s livestream of Rust, he was heard calling his friend a “sugar daddy” and proceeded to use his avatar to resemble a sexual act.

On his March 25th twitter post, he issued an apology via Twitter where he also announced he would no longer be streaming on Twitch, assuring his fans that his priority is Day6. His tweet also includes a series of images including English translations as Jae expressed regret and apologized for the comments he made that upset some viewers. He cites the joke as having immaturity and making an inappropriate comment seemingly after the kpop community lashed out. He says that he has shut down his Twitch channel where he was known to stream with other kpop idols like Mark Tuan from the former group GOT7.

He wrote; “From now on I will not act impulsively taking into mind the gravity of my words and actions. Moreover, as a member of Day6 I assure you I will always put Day6, fans and colleagues on top priority. Thus, as an act of sincerity, I will stop all personal live streams including Twitch.” On the surface, it looks like the issue is stemming from kpop “stans,” or fans who take their obsession a bit too far. In this instance, it’s possible that Jae received backlash from Day6 fans who felt the comments were inappropriate.
