JustaMinx Gets Second Ban

Minx, an Irish YouTuber and Twitch streamer, was banned from the platform on Monday for using the word “cracker,” which Twitch considers an insulting slur and prohibits under its hateful conduct policy. Minx’s Twitch account has been banned for the second time.

Minx said in a video explaining why she was banned. She stated; “I am not laughing. I am repenting, and hoping I can appeal, to get unbanned earlier. [Twitch] is my main source of income. The slur was ‘cracker.’ A 7-day ban. Why would I even say it again? I am going to start saying the c-word.”

The streamer attempted to recover with a Ritz cracker joke after slipping the’slur,’ which references to the history of white people owning black people as slaves and ‘cracking’ whips. However, that recovery was to no avail. Similar bans have been imposed on Hasan Piker, his mods, and other major streamers in recent months for using the phrase. The name has sparked debate, with some claiming it is a racial slur on par with the N-word, while others have questioned whether it is actually as offensive or racist as terms directed against racial minorities and historically disadvantaged groups in the United States.

Regardless of how you feel about the term, Minx has violated Twitch’s regulation, which has effectively banned the entire world. So she’ll be gone for the next week unless she can get Twitch to reduce the length of her suspension.
