YouTuber Jacksepticeye Raises $200,000 In Under Four Hours For Australian Bushfires

Jacksepticeye held a four-hour live stream on January 25 in support of a charity cause. He had initially planned to donate to the Australian Red Cross, but after concerns were raised by viewers regarding how the charity allocates its funds, he decided to instead raise funds for GlobalGiving. The initial goal for the charity stream was $100, which was quickly surpassed and raised to $200,000.

Along with the live stream, Jacksepticeye has added items to his online store: A Love Koala enamel pin and a Love Koala t-shirt. The proceeds from these sales will also be donated to charity. Through the hashtag #Koalateelove, viewers shared fan art and encouraged their followers to donate to the cause. All money raised is being used to fund support relief for the animals and residents directly affected by the ongoing natural disaster.

“That was one of the craziest streams we’ve EVER done!!”, he posted on Twitter. ”$200,000 raised in 4 hours is absolute insanity and I am incredibly grateful! You’re all so generous and loving. The world needs that! Happy Australia Day to all of you celebrating it too”!
