Jacksepticeye Reveals Why He’s Considering Quitting YouTube

Seán William McLoughlin better known as Jacksepticeye is an Irish YouTuber, best known for his vlogs, comedic Let’s Play series, video game commentator, voice actor, and founder of the clothes company CLOAK along with Markiplier. He is known for his energy, distinct accent, loud commentary and sometimes gentle nature. As of May 2020, his channel has over 12 billion views and over 24 million subscribers, and is ranked the most-subscribed channel in Ireland. Jacksepticeye has participated in fundraisers that have raised millions for charity.

Jacksepticeye published a video on July 11th 2019, in which he discussed recent hardships and unhappiness with the work he’s created lately and he said that he is taking a break from making YouTube content to focus on his mental health. The creator discussed his current mental state and how there’s a lot of stuff happening out of the public eye. He also has a two month trip to Los Angeles about to begin, he thinks this is the best time to have time away from creating and focus on his own wellbeing. In the video, Jacksepticeye explains that his mental health has not been in the best place recently and he needs some time to regain the motivation needed to continue his digital career.

“My mental health has not been in the best place recently,” Jacksepticeye said.  “So the reason I’ve been taking more time off is because I have to. I need to take the time off to get my brain back in order, to just get that energy and that motivation back, to record the videos. I could have forced myself through it, to try and make videos, but it’s not worth it.”

While he’s in LA, McLoughlin plans to hang out and collaborate with some of his friends while also trying out acting and voice lessons. Once he’s settled in there, he will return to making videos. By his own admission, it won’t be long before his fans can enjoy his energetic gameplay once again.

This is a problem which is affecting some of the biggest YouTubers at the moment. In the last few years there have been other personalities that have taken breaks citing an overall burnout. When you consider how much pressure they are under to stay on top, it’s entirely understandable. Remember as well that many of these bigger YouTuber’s are more of an industry these days. Industries that have people working for them for a wage they need. That is always stressful.
