Hot Tub Streamers Leave Linktree

Hot Tub Streamers Leave Linktree

Several hot tub streamers are afraid to get banned from the platform as they have been abandoning Linktree due to a stealth change to how Linktree handles redirects to potentially inappropriate content.

Linktree is a freemium social media reference landing page developed by Alex Zaccaria, Anthony Zaccaria, and Nick Humphreys, headquartered in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia.

It was a tool that allows you to share multiple links on social media. The concept is simple: you get a short link to place in your bio that, when clicked, navigates to a webpage with a list of every link that you want active. However, there seems to be a problem as many twitch content creators have expressed concerns that being allowed to feature Linktree on channels is an exploit certain streamers use to indirectly promote their more adult-themed content.

Earlier on July 12th, Linktree announced that they would begin enabling sensitive content labels by default on certain domains. Prior to this, users could manually choose to enable restrictions or not. But then this change has apparently had some significant repercussions for streamers who use Linktree to promote their more risque material.

Hot tub streamer xoAeriel saw her stats decline after the change. She explained that, while she remains in the top 0.1% of OF creators, she has seen a drop in new sign-ups and her Linktree analytics have declined. Also, it turns out that one of the biggest female streamers on the platform Amouranth has also removed the Linktree from her Twitch profile and replaced it with a Snipfeed link instead.
