Hikaru Has One Million Followers

Hikaru Nakamura or simply Hikaru is an American chess player, Twitch livestreamer, and content creator. He became the youngest American to earn the title of Grandmaster at aged 15 years and 79 days. Back in 2020, TSM signed Hikaru as its first professional chess player and this came after his channel had grown to over 500,000 followers and became the most-watched chess stream on Twitch.

Hikaru has now reached a huge milestone on Twitch as he has now reached one million followers on his channel. During the PogChamps 3 witch’s premier chess tournament that pits streamers against one another, Hikaru reached his 1 millionth follower milestone on twitch. TSM took over twitter to congratulate GMHikaru on his incredible achievement. Hikaru also posted on his twitter, thanking a handful of people for their help along the way, including popular twitch streamer Felix Lengyel aka xQc for the push that he provided for the channel when he became xQc’s coach for a short time.

Hikaru wrote; “1M followers on twitch. I owe DanielRensch for the inspiration, xQc for the big spring push, and chesscom for the foundations. Thanks to hiimmikelee for the representation and TSM for being my squad. Finally thanks to chessbae94 and jaroniscaring for endless work. Also of course thanks to the legends Anna_Chess and GothamChess for keeping my channel warm when I play tournaments. Without them, I’d not be able to do this. Massive shoutout to my mods on twitch. Their work in building community is invaluable.”
