The show must go on, even though Hasan was banned from Twitch this week for using the term “cracker” on his stream. He specifically stated that his planned hot tub stream with Amouranth will be moved to H3H3 Productions’ show on Thursday.

The streamer was banned on Monday evening after taking time out of his show on Monday to defend the usage of the contentious term cracker, following the banning of some of his mods for using the term. While some have claimed that the phrase is a racial slur, Hasan maintains that it is neither a racial slur nor particularly objectionable. Twitch disagreed, and Hasan received his third Twitch suspension.

In the aftermath of the suspension, Hasan remained defiant, saying that he will be joining Ludwig Ahgren’s live on Tuesday and shifting his stream with Amouranth to H3H3’s YouTube channel on Thursday. Because both streams are on YouTube rather than Twitch, this is not a violation of his suspension.

Hasan isn’t the only streamer who has been banned for using the term “cracker.” On Tuesday, Vaush reported his own ban for using the phrase, which Twitch claims is a “hateful slur” in violation of their hateful conduct community guidelines.

Twitch has been criticized by Hasan, Vaush, and others for banning them due to “anti-white racism,” but xQc defended the platform on Tuesday. The word is incorrect, according to xQc, because it is an insult based on someone’s skin color, which he describes as “trashy and unneeded.”

Hasan sparked the outrage by referring to a Reddit user as a White Cracker Bitch over the weekend. Some chat participants were offended by the word, believing it to be discriminatory toward someone who was white.

The phrase “cracker” alludes to a time in American history when white people could legally possess black people as slaves, and the term “cracker” refers to the person who cracked the whip. Hasan claimed that the term is used by historically powerless people to express frustration and should not be seen as a slur or a derogatory term. It’s important remembering that he wasn’t a weak victim of historical oppression when he employed it.

It’s ironic that he’s putting a hot tub stream on Ethan Klein’s H3H3 podcast channel, given that Klein has previously been dismissive of hot tub streams, criticizing them openly earlier this year.

It’s unknown how long Hasan will be banned, although similar bans on Twitch normally last three to seven days.
