Earthquake During CDawgVA’s Stream

Connor “CDawgVA” Colquhoun, a Welsh content creator, was literally shaken after a 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit his room in Tokyo during a Twitch stream on October 7th.

According to local news reports, the quake was the largest to strike the city since the 9.1 Mw tragedy in 2011. The epicentre of the earthquake was 62 kilometers deep in the northwestern prefecture of Chiba in Japan, east of its capital, Tokyo, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. The earthquake had a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter scale at the time, but it was later lowered to 5.9 Mw.

When the earthquake hit, CDawgVA was taken off guard, and his room began to shake. “Oh, well that’s a big earthquake. Oh sh*t,” he said while his phone started to loudly ring an alert warning. The shaking lasted at least 30 seconds.

Despite the fact that Japan is frequently hit by large earthquakes, many of the country’s infrastructure are built to survive them. While we are relieved that CDawgVA remained safe, we are convinced that the earthquake made his heart race.

CDawgVA was not near the earthquake’s epicentre, which may explain why he did not feel the full intensity of the 5.9 Mw quake. Several wards around Japan have recorded earthquake activity of 5 Mw or greater, according to Japanese news media.
