Dream SMP Minecraft Server Season 2 Episode

Dream joined co-hosts GeorgeNotFound, Sapnap, and Karl Jacobs on the most recent episode of the Banter podcast. The Dream SMP Minecraft server, of which they are all members, was one of several subjects the group addressed.

Jacobs pushed the group to discuss the future after they had thought on the Dream SMP’s past. Dream had previously hinted that something significant would soon affect the Dream SMP irrevocably, but until recently, no additional information had been provided. Dream began by reiterating, “There’s gonna be a season two,” before formally announcing that the server’s upcoming events should start this month.

The Minecraft star avoided giving too much away by being deliberately vague, but Jacobs pushed for more details and cited a new set of “rules” and general “rule changes” that the server will abide by. In reference to the mysterious new regulations that will be put into effect when season two starts, Jacobs remarked, “Those are some of the most exciting parts to me.”

Dream did state that as part of the new regulations, there will be “activity requirements” for all creators who are part of the server, although still being cautious about disclosing more and giving away too much too soon. This has been a typical feature for other SMPs to make sure they are active, the server is kept up to date, and creators consistently produce new content. The fact that Dream SMP fans have never before seen his canonical character’s perspective outside of one little YouTube video he did makes his assertion that these restrictions will even apply to him all the more intriguing. His persona serves as the server’s main adversary, though this may fluctuate significantly based on what the major event is that will occur there.

Regarding what the Minecraft server used to be and what he thinks the future changes would bring back, Jacobs remarked, “I think a lot of the fun of it was just, I know this sounds stupid, people being on it.”

The Dream SMP used to be a busy server with so many broadcasters active at once that any maker could simply log in and decide what to do. They didn’t have to spend a lot of time thinking or considering how their behavior may impact the server’s canonical lore, as GeorgeNotFound put it, so they could “just get on and mess around with people.”

Since the Minecraft server has been less active lately, many fans have even worried that it may have ended permanently. The players on the server have categorically stated that this is not the case, but they have also stated that everyone has felt pressured and has become less active as a result of the server being overly lore-fixated.
