Dream Fans Claim New Merchandise Is “Too Plain”

One of the most popular minecraft youtubers, Dream, is known for keeping things simple, just like his logo which just has a plainly drawn smile. His merchandise has been a massive hit with his fans but then some fans also have been wishing that there was a little bit more of a design in his merch.

Dream’s aesthetic is simple, and that’s reflected in his merch. His recognizable logo is a plain smiley face on a white background, that he drew himself in MS Paint. His merch follows this branding, but some fans have been disappointed with the simplistic designs. Dream has responded via twitter to the complaints from fans regarding his merch. He posted a tweet with a picture of a Nike, Supreme, and Adidas while his caption was “People be like ‘Dream’s merch is just a smiley face it’s boring.’”

Dream also pointed out the serious business side of things. The simplistic design may be easy to recreate, but there’s an entire business model behind it to make sure Dream fans get the best quality merch possible. After memeing people who wear Nike, Adidas and Supreme branding, Dream explained why he prefers the simple style of branding as he stated; “I don’t mind most of my merch being simple because people like it, and that’s my brand, My Youtube PFP is drawn in paint as well. Simplicity can be good sometimes. If it’s not your preference, don’t buy it.” It’s clear Dream wants his merch to reflect his branding, but according to the series of tweets that he posted, he didn’t shy away from the idea of producing more extravagant merch in the future. Additionally, regardless of the design, Dream’s merch will always sell like hotcakes. But if fans are looking for a little bit more, they have to be mindful that it’s not in the YouTuber’s interest.
